Chamonix Town
Chamonix

On the borders of both Switzerland and Italy, Chamonix is a truely European town and one of the premier resorts in the Alps.

Surrounded by the splendor of the Mont Blanc, its history is heavily steeped in Alpinism with the many Glaciers and Peaks lending themselves perfectly to climbers and skiers alike.

Wether you are taking advantage of the amazing array of outdoor sports or just hanging out in a street cafe, Chamonix really does offer a unique European experience.

For those travelling with non-riders you can go out riding confident that they will have wide variety of activities from hiking and climbing to shopping and swimming to keep them busy.

Check out the Chamonix webcam.

Chamonix provides probably the best summer nightlife of any of the Alpine resorts. With a wide variety of cafes, bars and nightclubs you can choose as to how much energy you put into "apres velo"!

One of the highlights of Chamonix is The Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi cable car. Departing from 1050m at the valley bottom, the Gondola will take you to the top station which is situated at a dramatic 3842m. The station which is only 1000m lower than the summit of The Mont Blanc, offers spectacular views of the Italian and Swiss Alps.

There are a number of other cable cars around the valley which provide access to some excellent trails, for both mountain bikes and walkers.
